We’re excited that Earth Month is here and want to raise awareness about the importance of caring for our planet. We know that it’s not just about what we do as a company but also about the small actions we can take in our daily lives to reduce our environmental impact.
Recycling is a routine part of our office culture. This is one of the many earth-friendly initiatives that our entire company participates in. Many of our employees have switched to reusable cups, plates, and water bottles, reducing waste and saving money in the long run. Years ago, we got our employees branded water/coffee mugs to use around the office and at home to help with this!
Biking to work is also popular at the Bio::Neos office! Several of our employees have taken up biking to work, which is a great way to reduce carbon emissions and get some exercise at the same time. This is probably the most popular earth-friendly initiative in our office. We have even organized company-wide bike rides! We even have a team member whose daughter collects rainwater to water her plants, which is an excellent way to conserve water and reduce runoff in our local waterways. She has even inspired other employees to do the same!
These are just a few examples of what easy earth-friendly initiatives our employees do to help the planet. If you’re looking for ways to reduce your impact as a company, consider reducing plastic use in the office. One of the most significant sources of waste is single-use plastic. Generally, minimizing waste, paper usage, and recycling materials is a great and easy way to act more sustainably.
Also, consider ways to reduce E-Waste by properly disposing of electronic equipment. The city of Iowa City even offers electronic recycling that they will come to pick up. Even better, donate functional hardware to non-profits or other organizations that may be in need. Goodwill Reboot in Iowa City will also accept working and non-working computers to be recycled or refurbished.
Earth Month is a great time to reflect on our impact on the environment and take action to reduce it. Even if it’s a small change, do one thing today that helps our Earth!
