GANT allows you to select sequence which can then be used for a variety of purposes: copy the sequence to be pasted elsewhere, span the selected region with primers, and add annotation to the selected region.
You may be zoomed in or out at any level to select sequence. For the purpose of this help document, a zoomed-in image will be used so you can see exactly what is being selected.
To select a portion of sequence, simply click the left boundary of the region and then click the right boundary (note: this is just a simple click or left-click. Not a right-click). Everything in between will be selected and highlighted in gray as shown here:

By zooming out, you can also see the region that was selected (in the 5th exon):

Alternatively, you could right-click (or Ctrl+click) anywhere in the gene and select one of the following:
Select All - select the entire sequence (does return different
sequence in the Transcript View and Genomic View windows
Select None - deselect your selection
Select Coding Segment - select the entire coding segment of
the gene
Select this Exon - will select the entire exon in which you
right-clicked
Select this Intron - Will select the entire intron in which
you right-clicked
Once you have a region selected, you may right click (or Ctrl+click) the region and get a menu with options for copying, spanning, and creating custom annotation. Here is what the menu looks like when you right-click on the selected portion of the gene:
