GANT is platform-independent and can be installed on a variety of platforms such as Windows, Mac, and many flavors of Linux. All that is needed on your computer is the Java Runtime Environment (JRE).
There are three steps necessary for the successful installation and use of GANT:
This step may be skipped if you already have the JRE (version 1.4 or later) on your system. If you are not sure whether or not you have the JRE installed, you may check here: http://www.java.com/en/download/installed.jsp. If you do not have it installed, or need to install a newer version, please visit:

Click the Java Download button and following the instructions to complete the download and installation of Java:

Once you have installed the JRE, you may move on to step 2.
If you have not already downloaded the GANT installer, you may do so by visiting http://bioneos.com/products/gant/download.php. Simply fill out your information, enter the security code as displayed in the security image, and click "Download GANT". Please be patient with the download, it is creating the file for you and may take a few minutes to begin.
Once the download is ready, you will see a window similar to this:

The installer will take you through a series of steps to install GANT on your system. You may choose to simply leave all the options in their default setting and continually click "Next" to complete the installation.
Once you have completed the installation of GANT, move on to step 3.
Now that you have installed GANT, you may start it one of two ways:
If you wish to install additional plugins so that GANT may interact with more
sources of data, then visit Installing Plugins and Drivers.
The GANT application directory is located:

| Max OS X | "/Applications/BioNeos/GANT/" |
| Linux | "/home/<user>/BioNeos/GANT/" |
Note: During the installation process you are allowed to modify the installation directory of the application from its default location. If you did so, then your copy of the application may be located in a different location from what is mentioned above.
